Compensation Consultant

We are currently seeking two additional Compensation Consultants to join our team that supports Insperity clients with their compensation strategies. This is one of the most unique positions that you will have in your compensation career!

What does this job entail?
As a Compensation Consultant, you will be responsible for providing expertise to our clients in all aspects of their compensation planning and strategies. You will do this by providing consultative services on issues pertaining to base salary and variable pay programs, competitive pay practices and regulatory mandates.

In addition, you will:

  • Speak with a wide representation of business and HR leaders from a variety of industries, locations and sizes.
  • Engage with dynamic business leaders while putting your creative compensation skills to work.
  • Learn something new each day while working with a fun group of compensation practitioners.

What do we need from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in human resources or business preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the compensation field.
  • Consulting experience preferred.

Compensation Analyst - Human Resources
University of Utah Health



The Compensation Analyst performs a variety of responsible professional, technical and analytical classification of occupational data and developing recommendations that allow the organization to maintain market competitiveness of wages, salaries and benefits to successfully recruit and retain employees.

The Compensation Analyst will work on project specific data with the compensation team and other human resource departments.

This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.


Qualified candidates must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Accounting or related field, or equivalency.
  • Two years of related human resource management experience, performing compensation and data analysis.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, query reporting and other information management

CCP Certification is a plus, and will also contribute to the expertise in this role!

  • Works on special projects such as market data benchmarking, performance rating analysis and compensation policies.
  • Provides advice and counsel to leadership on promotion planning, job classification, incentive pay, equity analysis, performance planning and employee compensation recommendation and sound decision making.

  • Must be able to perform algebraic and regression calculations in additional to basic mathematics.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office applications, strong Excel analysis of data.
  • Effective interaction, engagement and communication skills. Preparing written reports for varied audiences.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations.
  • Negotiation and problem solving and working with broad and complex instructions.

Partners with the Compensation Manager on the design, development, administration and implementation of compensation programs, policies, structures, and practices. Participates in compensation surveys, performs job analysis, prepares reports, performs research, assists with program design, and coordination and implementation of the annual compensation cycle.


  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition team, People Team and hiring managers to evaluate, make recommendations and submit approval for internal and external job offers, with consideration for market competitiveness, internal equity and candidate qualifications. Partners with the Talent Acquisition, People Team and DEI teams to ensure fair, consistent and competitive pay practices.
  • Provides support, reviews for accuracy and approves new job requisitions.
  • Evaluates the organization’s jobs, documenting responsibilities and requirements in job descriptions. Conducts market analysis of company jobs to determine competitive positioning and makes recommendations. Provides support for evaluation of organization’s pay ranges.
  • Contributes organizational data to and analyzes results of compensation surveys. Assists with making recommendations for changes to the organizational compensation structure based on survey data.
  • Provides support for compensation training to include preparation of materials, communication, facilitation of training, follow up tasks, etc.
  • Participates in annual salary administration and supports analyzing and interpreting other compensation programs. Provides direct support to leaders and other members of the People Team on compensation requests as needed.
  • Support other compensation projects, prepares reports and data, assists with analyzing programs, conducts modeling and data audits, and responds to general compensation questions as requested.


Bachelor’s degree in a related field (human resources, business, finance, etc.) or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of four years directly related compensation work experience to include market pricing and benchmarking, compensation analysis, salary administration support.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent research and data analysis skills
  • Intermediate level Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word proficiency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
